while paddling from Mildura to Kingston-on-Murray in January 2010 we came across this family of emu drinking at the water's edge. On the journey we passed through 8 locks and all sections of the river were full with the Lockmaster at Lock 4 reporting the highest water levels in 3 years. Our trip was prior to the arrival of floodwaters coming down the Darling from the December 2009 rains. The follow up rains in February and early March should be a boon to both the river flows and the storages.
