This is a Story Board Exhibition featuring stories of the women who worked side by side with their menfolk, took over the business when tragedy struck, or just got on with helping others.
Read about the first woman to be become a licensed chemist in Victoria, the one who was the first Town Clerk both residents of Echuca. Our early midwives, women who made their mark on our community, the lady goat herder supplying milk to the community. The Brigidine Nun who bought her sisters over the oceans and overland all those years ago…arriving in the heat of summer from Ireland. The group of ladies who started the Benevolent Society, many of their given names are unknown they were just known only as Mrs. Someone… could we imagine that happening today.
