Punyelroo a small town on the Murray near Swan Reach
Punyelroo is a very small town on the Murray River between Swan Reach (8km) and Mannum (46km). Nearby you'll find Wongulla, Purnong, Caurnamont. Inland you on the dirt road to Cambrai you'll encounter Black Hill. You can also stop in at Sedan for a local town walk.
A dirt road leads to the town. The town consists of a very popular caravan park with general store and refueling and the South Punyelroo Progress Assocation and shacks. Nearby you can visit Swan Reach and enjoy the Swan Reach Hotel, Swan Reach Museum or discover Shell Hill near the Wongulla turnoff.
Not far down the road you can also experience the magic of Big Bend and Big Bend by Night. Big Bend By Night is a nature based tourism business that operates from David and Mardi's family farm near Swan Reach, nestled under the stunning Big Bend cliffs on the mighty Murray River they offer a range of tours to passengers on the cruise boats operating on the lower reaches of the Murray River, to houseboats and those able to drive into the rugged Big Bend area. A great way to encounter Australian animals in their environment.
