Winkie is home to the Bella Lavender Farm..over 2,500 plants
Winkie is situated around 11 km southwest of Berri, and around the same distance southeast of Barmera.
A short drive along the Winkie Road and turning onto Dalziel Road will take you to Bella Lavender. The lavender farm, with its 2,500 plants of lavender is set on 5 acres of land amongst a backdrop of vines and olive trees. When visiting the lavender farm you can choose to walk amongst the heavenly fragrant rows of lavender or browse in the Mediterranean style coffee shop where the shelves a filled with local products or get active and enjoy a game of putt putt!
Back onto Winkie Road and follow the signs to the main entrance of the Murray River National Park. It covers approximately 13,000 hectares and is made up of three separate sections of land – one of which is Katarapko. Escape and explore this tranquil setting where you can enjoy bushwalking, canoeing, camping, fishing or just relaxing by the waters edge.
