Big Bend By Night is a nature based tourism business that operates from our family farm near Swan Reach, nestled under the stunning Big Bend cliffs on the mighty Murray River. We offer a range of tours to passengers on the cruise boats operating on the lower reaches of the River Murray, to houseboat hirers and those able to drive into the rugged Big Bend area.

NOCTURNAL TOUR

Join our nocturnal tour at 78 Preiss Landing Road, Sunnydale in comfortable open top carts as we drive you around the bush to see the evasive wombat in its natural habitat along with large mobs of grey and red kangaroos as they feed on the irrigated and natural pastures on the old Sunnydale Station at Swan Reach.

DARK SKY TOUR
Situated in the middle of the River Murray International Dark Sky Reserve viewing area our nocturnal tour includes the opportunity to see the pristine, clear vision of the Milky Way. The Dark Sky tour starts at our property, 78 Preiss Landing Road, Sunnydale at 7.00pm (April – September) and 8.30pm (October – March). BREAKFASTS

We can cook you a bush tucker breakfast (including your traditional breakfast foods) in a tranquil setting on the river bank. Available to houseboat or drive in groups commencing at 8.00 a.m. Bookings essential preferably one week in advance.

BAROSSA TOURS

Three chauffeur driven vehicles can accommodate 8 to 16 passengers on an informative winery tour into the nearby Barossa Valley.

Tours can be designed specifically for you with lunch included.

OUTBACK PUB TOURS

Our most popular tour is the outback pub tour which puts you in touch with remote communities and characters that are an important part of our dry arid saltbush country. Lunch is included at one of the 3 pubs visited. Lots of native animals and country humour make for an interesting day out.

ADELAIDE HILLS SAFARI

This tour will suit all ages, from toddlers to seniors. First port of call is Monarto Zoo where you will board a shuttle bus and receive informative commentary while travelling around the open space zoo. You will then travel to Hahndorf for lunch and free time to explore the interesting main street before returning to your houseboat via Melba’s Chocolates and the Cheese Factory at Woodside.

LANGHORNE CREEK WINE TOUR

Langhorne Creek wine area is South Australia’s best kept secret. A visit to The Wine House, Bleasdale Winery and lunch at Bremerton Wines gives a unique insight into the oldest vineyard area in South Australia.

Houseboats that include a Big Bend By Night tour in their holiday are permitted to a free overnight mooring between the 229km river marker and Preiss Landing (22m downstream). This mooring site is the only one available opposite the magnificent Big Bend Cliffs.
